The European Conference on Ethics, Religion & Philosophy 2017
The Jurys Inn Brighton Waterfront, Brighton, United Kingdom
Tuesday, July 4 - Wednesday, July 5, 2017
Abstract Submission Deadline: April 16, 2017
Registration Deadline for Presenters: May 16, 2017
Conference Themes: “Identity” & “History, Story, Narrative”
The conference themes for ECERP2017 are “Identity” and “History, Story and Narrative”, and the organisers encourage submissions that approach this theme from a variety of perspectives.
These dual themes are complementary in that they hope to excite research on a variety of subjects related to personal and group Identity, as well as the histories, stories and narratives that help situate us within communities and societies, and in the wider world in which we exist.
Crises of individual identity include losses and questioning of faith, of concepts of “truth” and “right”, and of ethical and religious societal responses to changing norms in different countries. These questions of identity go right to the heart of what it is to be human.
This conference also asks us to consider the connected notions of history, story and narrative within the context of ethics, religion, and philosophy. However, the submission of other topics for consideration is welcome and we also encourage sessions across a variety of interdisciplinary and theoretical perspectives.
The European Conference on Ethics, Religion and Philosophy will again be held alongside The European Conference on Psychology & the Behavioral Sciences. Registration for either of these conferences will allow participants to attend sessions in the other.
In conjunction with our global partners, we look forward to extending a warm welcome to you in 2017.
IAFOR Publishing Opportunities
The IAFOR Journal of Ethics, Religion & Philosophy is a peer-reviewed, editorially independent, open access journal associated with IAFOR’s Conferences on ethics, religion and philosophy. A small number of papers from the Conference Proceedings will be selected by the journal editor for reworking and revising, in line with normal processes of review. It is expected that between five and ten percent of papers included in any given Conference Proceedings will be developed for inclusion in the journal. The editor may also commission pieces or accept articles from the open call, subject to the same processes of peer review.
If your abstract is accepted and you have registered for the conference, you are encouraged to submit a full paper for inclusion in the official conference proceedings published on the website. Final papers should be uploaded through the submissions system. Please ensure that your paper is ready to go to press by the submission deadline.
THINK, The Academic Platform, is IAFOR’s online magazine, publishing the latest in interdisciplinary research and ideas from some of the world’s foremost academics, many of whom have presented at IAFOR conferences. Content is varied in both subject and form, with everything from full research papers, to shorter opinion pieces, interviews, podcasts, film and photography.
