IAFOR Journal of Education: Inclusive Education: Call for Papers

The IAFOR Journal of Education is continuing to attract attention from authors globally. The new structure, with thematic issues, has had submissions pouring in. We have already published Language Learning in Education, Technology in Education, and Undergraduate Education.

IAFOR Journal of Education: Inclusive Education is now open for submissions and will remain open until 9.00am JST, Friday November 20. Target publication date: February 19, 2021

The Inclusive Education Issue

IAFOR Journal of Education: Inclusive Education encourages exploration of significant themes, exceptional programs and best practices in the inclusion of students from different and diverse backgrounds in education. This can include, but is not exclusive to inclusive approaches to gender, sexuality, ethnicity, culture, religion, disability and age in different education contexts.

Aims & Scope

This issue invites critical discussion of topical themes and the most forward-thinking best practices with regard to inclusive approaches to education from teaching professionals and education researchers. We welcome high quality submissions on inclusive education from diverse disciplinary and international perspectives, including different research approaches from small case studies through to large scale surveys. The topic focus will embrace a breadth of inclusive education from Trans equality through to decolonising curricula; and diverse contexts from formal education to home schooling to the prison and hospital classroom. In the spirit of fostering diversity of insights, we particularly welcome contributions from authors based in the global South.

This issue will be of interest to education practitioners, researchers, policy makers and commentators of diverse education contexts from the early years through to higher and adult learning.

About the Editor

Tamsin Hinton-Smith

Dr Tamsin Hinton-Smith is a Senior Lecturer in Higher Education at the University of Sussex, where she is also Deputy Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning Research.

Tamsin has been an academic specialising in increasing inclusion and addressing marginalisations in education opportunities and participation, for 16 years. Her background is as a sociologist, specialising in social inequalities, particularly as they relate to education, and to dimensions of identity including gender, socio-economic background, and ethnicity. Tamsin has interests in compulsory, further, higher, adult and informal education contexts.

Like all IAFOR publications, it is freely available to read online, and is free of publication fees for authors. The first issue was published in May 2013, and the journal will publish four issues in 2020.
