Why It Matters

IAFOR’s mission to promote international exchange, facilitate heightened intercultural awareness and encourage interdisciplinary discussion is actively creating beneficial outcomes for individuals and positively impacting global society. But why are these three key areas of focus so important?

Different countries operate under very different economic circumstances and political systems, and yet academic pools of excellence can be found across the world, shaped by these very circumstances. IAFOR is committed to providing platforms to facilitate intellectual exchange in positive environments that encourage interaction between individuals from these diverse nations, bringing people together, building bridges and strengthening connections between different areas of the globe.

Physical and technological barriers to communication are ever more rapidly disappearing, yet often cultural barriers must still be overcome for successful academic collaborations to take place. Through its events, IAFOR offers researchers and practitioners the opportunity to interact with peers from various cultural backgrounds, thus developing a deeper knowledge of cultures other than their own, as well as contributing to an overarching understanding of academic research as a force that both celebrates individual cultures and transcends cultural boundaries.

Through engagements within and across disciplines, academics and scholars can be exposed to new perspectives and create new knowledge. By working with conference themes and encouraging diverse approaches, IAFOR’s interdisciplinary events spark research partnerships and innovative programmes that generate and contribute to new fields. In a changing global and academic environment, these new connections can contribute to the establishment of transdisciplinary best practices and guides for the various issues today’s academics must face.
