Every year the Center for Australian and Transnational Studies at the University of Barcelona holds the MCD conference in honour of Professor Doireann MacDermott. Professor MacDermott founded the English Department at the University of Barcelona and was the first person outside England to introduce what were then called Commonwealth Studies and, today, Postcolonial Studies.
The 21st Doireann MacDermott Lecture is organised by the Center for Australian and Transnational Studies at the University of Barcelona and CRIC Master in affiliation with The International Academic Forum (IAFOR). The University of Barcelona is an IAFOR Institutional Partner through the Center for Australian and Transnational Studies since 2016.
This year’s lecture will be given by Mark G. Sanchez and is titled, “Between the Colonial and the Post-Colonial: Writing and the Creation of a Third-Space Identity”.
Held online, the lecture will begin at 5.30pm on December 14, 2020.
