1. Publishing your work with IAFOR
So as to publish and disseminate your research articles, IAFOR need publishing rights, governed by a publishing agreement between the author and IAFOR.
This agreement deals with the transfer of the publication license of your copyrighted work to IAFOR, and details the author’s rights to use and share their own published work, and in recognition of the need for the author to share their work as widely as possible, maximizing its impact, and giving value to the funding bodies involved.
2. Open Archive
2.1 IAFOR Commitment
IAFOR believes in “Open Access” publishing, and since 2009, has been committed to maintaining an online searchable research archive that offers free access to anyone, anywhere, where there is Internet access, regardless of institutional affiliation or scholarly rank.
2.2 Exclusive License Agreement
By publishing your work with IAFOR, you are entering into an exclusive license agreement, where authors have copyright but license exclusive rights in their article to IAFOR as the publisher.
3. Author Rights
Authors maintain the right to:
- Share their article in the same ways permitted to third parties under the relevant user license (together with Personal Use rights) so long as it contains the end user license and a DOI link to the version of record on the IAFOR Research Archive.
- Retain patent, trademark and other intellectual property rights (including research data).
- Proper attribution and credit for the published work.
4. Rights granted to IAFOR
The rights granted to IAFOR are:
- The exclusive right to publish and distribute an article, and to grant rights to others, including for commercial purposes.
- For IAFOR to apply the relevant third party user license where IAFOR publishes the article on its online platforms (under the IAFOR Publications & License Agreement).
- The right to provide the article in all forms and media so the article can be used on the latest technology even after publication.
- The authority to enforce the rights in the article, on behalf of an author, against third parties, for example in the case of copyright infringement or plagiarism.
5. IAFOR User License
5.1 Copyright Protection
Articles published under an IAFOR user license are protected by copyright. Users may access, download, copy, translate, text and data mine, redistribute, display or adapt the articles for non-commercial purposes provided that users:
- Cite the article using an appropriate bibliographic citation (i.e. author(s), journal, article title, volume, issue, page numbers, DOI and the link to the definitive published version on the IAFOR site).
- Maintain the integrity of the article.
- Retain copyright notices and links to these terms and conditions so it is clear to other users what can and cannot be done with the article.
- Ensure that, for any content in the article that is identified as belonging to a third party, any re-use complies with the copyright policies of that third party.
- Any translations, for which a prior translation agreement with IAFOR has not been established, must prominently display the statement: "This is an unofficial translation of an article that appeared in an IAFOR publication. IAFOR has not endorsed this translation."

5.2 Non Commercial License
This is a non commercial license where the use of published articles for commercial purposes is prohibited. Commercial purposes include:
- Copying or downloading articles, or linking to such postings, for further redistribution, sale or licensing, for a fee.
- Copying, downloading or posting by a site or service that incorporates advertising with such content.
- The inclusion or incorporation of article content in other works or services (other than normal quotations with an appropriate citation) that is then available for sale or licensing, for a fee.
- Use of articles or article content (other than normal quotations with appropriate citation) by for-profit organizations for promotional purposes, whether for a fee or otherwise.
- Use for the purposes of monetary reward by means of sale, resale, license, loan, transfer or other form of commercial exploitation.
