With 35 years in the photographic industry and the most comprehensive range of photographic services in the UK, Metro Imaging has a well-established reputation for delivering a level of expertise and professionalism that is second to none. Metro Imaging remains at the forefront of the photography industry because its enthusiastic and skilled team has kept inspiration at its heart, with great value placed on creativity, new ideas and quality. It is because of these shared core values that the IAFOR Documentary Photography Award is pleased to announce a new partnership with Metro Imaging. We look forward to working with them to develop and support the career of this year’s talented winner.
Since its inception a decade ago, Metro Imaging’s Mentorship Programme has had great success in providing talented emerging photographers with invaluable industry experience, exposure and inspiration, while helping them to refine and challenge their working practice. Over a 12-month period, Metro Imaging will work with our Grand Prize Winner to develop and support their practice by constructing a Mentorship Programme that best suits their needs, and introduce them to relevant industry experts to gain advice and build their network.
With a wealth of industry experience and close connections to many prestigious documentary organisations, some of which crossover with our own existing partnerships, including World Press Photo and University of the Arts London, Metro Imaging is a particularly well-suited partner organisation for our Award, and one which can make a sizeable contribution to the professional development of our overall winner.
Winners will be announced at The European Conference on Media, Communication & Film (EuroMedia) (July 11 - July 14, 2016) in Brighton, England. The award follows the theme of the conference, with 2016’s theme being “Justice”. We hope that the broad nature of this theme will encourage photographers to submit work that explores justice from a variety of perspectives. For the third year, EuroMedia will be held alongside The European Conference on Arts & Humanities (ECAH). All delegates attending these conferences will receive free entry to the award ceremony.
