Spotlight on Undergraduate Education

Last week I said that I would discuss APA referencing in this week’s blog. That was my intention, forgetting that this week sees the opening of the submission period for the next issue of the journal: Vol 8 Issue 3: Undergraduate Education. It seemed appropriate to concentrate on this now and move to APA next week.

Professor José McClanahan,
Creighton University, USA

The editor of this issue is Dr Joseph (José) McClanahan who is Chair of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and an Associate Professor of Spanish at Creighton University Omaha, Nebraska where he teaches at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum, including language, literature and culture. José is also the co-facilitator of the annual Asian Undergraduate Research Symposium where undergraduates from around the globe come to present posters of their research.

What are we looking for?

The Undergraduate Education issue includes the exploration and analysis of all facets of undergraduate education and practice. Topics can focus on public or private colleges and universities. The audience for this issue is administrators, faculty and staff who teach and work with undergraduate students. It includes a plethora of topics including, but not limited to:

  • New approaches to undergraduate teaching
  • Interdisciplinary programs
  • Curricular developments
  • Innovative undergraduate programs and specialities
  • First year experience
  • Research in undergraduate education
  • International students and undergraduate education
  • Study abroad and the undergraduate experience

What is the issue NOT looking for?

Because this is an issue on undergraduate education you should not submit anything on school education, postgraduate education or adult education. In fact, you should not submit any paper that does not have undergraduates as its focus. I cannot stress this enough as those who read last week’s blog know that we have been receiving many out of scope papers. Please, remain in scope and spare yourself immediate rejection.

When can I submit?

The dates for submissions are on the journal home page and are copied below for your information. Please note that times of opening and closing are Japan Standard Time: you do not have until midnight your time on the closing date!
