IAFOR Journal of Education now in Clarivate’s Web of Science™

We are delighted to announce that in November 2024, the IAFOR Journal of Education was selected for inclusion in Clarivate's Web of Science™.

Articles published after 2022, beginning with issue 10(1), will be included in the following products:

Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)

By being included in Web of Science it will mean the visibility of research from the journal will be greatly enhanced. Only around one third of the journals listed on the ESCI are Open Access journals.

A thousand thanks to so many people!

This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and many hours of hard work from an incredible team of Editors, Associate Editors, Senior Reviewers and Reviewers. Today, this number totals around 130 people who all give their time freely as a contribution to the academic community. Thank you everyone! We couldn't do it without you.

Specifically, we offer congratulations and massive thanks to the three issue editors that steer the journal today:

    • Dr Melinda Cowart
      Texas Woman’s University (TWU), USA
      (Language Learning in Education issue)
    • Dr Michael P. Menchaca
University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, USA
      (Technology in Education issue)
    • Dr Pearl Subban
      Monash University, Melbourne, Australia
      (Studies in Education issue)

Special thanks to the journal's founding editor, Dr Bernard Montoneri, who did so much to put the foundations down in the beginning. (Bernard Montoneri is currently editor of the IAFOR Journal of Literature & Librarianship.)

A special thanks also goes to Dr Yvonne Masters who deserves praise for her foresight and a great deal of hard work in expanding the title into the successful framework of issues that we see today.

Finally, we would like to thank the thousands of authors from across the world that have entrusted us with their research. Submissions are open to everyone and all papers are reviewed equally according to standard peer-review processes. Like all IAFOR journals, it is freely available to read online, and authors are not required to pay submission or publication charges of any sort.

Note – Being selected for ESCI is the first step in applying to a WoS flagship index such as the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI). Going forward, the performance of the title will be evaluated by Clarivate, possibly leading to a move to a flagship database if the journal performs well and space becomes available.

The 8 issues published from 2022 to date will be indexed on WoS to begin with, plus the upcoming December issue onwards (it will take between four to six weeks for these articles to appear).
