IAFOR Journal of Education –Technology in Education: New Editor Calls for Papers

As the Scopus indexed IAFOR Journal of Education (JoE) moves into a new era, we are delighted to announce a new issue of the journal on the topic of Technology in Education, and to welcome the newly appointed Editor, Dr Michael Menchaca.


Dr Michael Menchaca is a professor in the Department of Learning Design and Technology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He specialises in digital and online learning and has helped establish successful online programs at multiple institutions. He currently coordinates the blended doctoral program in his Department.

Michael Menchaca publishes research in online learning, social justice with technology, and integrating technology into teaching and learning at all levels. He has consulted for numerous universities, schools, districts, and county and state offices. He has presented and delivered keynotes both nationally and internationally. He has served as principal investigator for state and federal grants. He has also served on editorial review boards and as a reviewer for many peer-reviewed journals.


About JoE – Technology in Education

The IAFOR Journal of Education: Technology in Education seeks high-quality, original submissions encouraging exploration of the impact of technology in diverse educational settings both formal and informal. The journal’s simple aim is to improve education and its scope is broad. While the journal welcomes both research-focused as well as practitioner-based manuscripts, all submissions should include sound theoretical and/or conceptual foundations.

Submissions could include but are not limited to:

  • e-learning
  • online learning
  • multimedia-based learning
  • ICT in education
  • learning technologies
  • virtual learning, and
  • blended learning across all sectors of education such as pre-K-12, higher education, corporate, military, and informal.

Submission period: Monday March 9, 2020 – Friday May 8, 2020
Target publication date: July 17, 2020

If you are submitting to this issue, please check the journal’s Author Guidelines for information on format, referencing requirements and word length, as well as other useful information. Submissions, via the website’s submission portal, will be accepted until COB (JST) Friday 8 May. The expected publication is 17 July.

Please note the following:

All papers are reviewed equally according to standard peer review processes, regardless of whether or not the authors have attended a related IAFOR conference.

Papers already submitted to or published in IAFOR Conference Proceedings are not accepted for publication in any of IAFOR’s journals.

Once an article has been rejected, an author cannot resubmit either an amendment to this article or another article for this issue of the journal.


The IAFOR Journal of Education is an internationally reviewed and editorially independent interdisciplinary journal associated with IAFOR’s international conferences on education. Like all IAFOR publications, it is freely available to read online, and is free of publication fees for authors. The first issue was published in May 2013, From 2020, the journal will publish a minimum of four issues per year.

Indexed in: Scopus, DOAJ, ERIC, EBSCO Discovery Service, MIAR, TROVE, Scilit, SHERPA/RoMEO, WorldCat and Google Scholar. DOIs are assigned to each published issue and article via Crossref.
