Joseph Haldane is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of IAFOR. He is responsible for devising strategy, setting policies, forging institutional partnerships, implementing projects, and overseeing the organisation’s international business and academic operations, including research, publications and events.
Dr Haldane holds a PhD from the University of London in 19th-century French Studies, and has had full-time faculty positions at the University of Paris XII Paris-Est Créteil, Sciences Po Paris, and Nagoya University of Commerce and Business, as well as visiting positions at the French Press Institute in the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas, The School of Journalism at Sciences Po Paris, and the School of Journalism at Moscow State University (Russia).

Yvonne Masters is an independent researcher in Australia. She has been involved with IAFOR for several years as a member of The Asian Conference for Education Organising Committee, as co-facilitator of The Asian Undergraduate Research Symposium, and as a member of the International Academic Advisory Board. Yvonne is the current Executive Editor of the IAFOR Journal of Education.
Yvonne was a teacher and teacher educator for over 40 years and is still passionate about education. She was a senior lecturer in Professional Classroom Practice in the School of Education, University of New England, Australia, a position that she accepted after five years as Director of Professional Experience in the same School. Prior to taking up her position at UNE, she had 30 years’ experience in secondary schools including in the roles of Curriculum Coordinator, Deputy Principal and Principal. Her teaching experience spans three Australian states. Her research interests centre on undergraduate research, academic publication, teacher education and policy, professional experience, teacher identity, online learning and virtual worlds. Yvonne was awarded her PhD, focused on school principalship, from Deakin University.
She is an active researcher and gained, in collaboration with other researchers, 4 Internal UNE School of Education Research grants; was a partner in a $200,000 ALTC (OLT) grant, VirtualPREX: Innovative assessment using a 3D virtual world with pre-service teachers; in 2014 achieved a UNE Seed Grant for a one year project to explore teacher quality; and in 2015 gained a $50,000 OLT seed grant to develop resources to assist pre-service teachers to gain online teaching skills to assist them in teaching wholly online into virtual schools.
Yvonne serves as a reviewer for several education journals and is a senior reviewer for IAFOR conferences. She presents on a variety of education topics including publishing as an academic, teacher education policy, undergraduate research, and online teaching at a range of conferences, both Australian and international.

Associate Editors
Monash University, Melbourne, Australia
Dr Pearl Subban is a lecturer in Teacher Education at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. She is currently the Course Leader for the Master of Education program, and Acting Director of Graduate programs. Pearl’s research interests are embedded within accommodating student diversity, and differentiated teaching and learning strategies to accommodate these needs.
With over two decades in the education sector, in both South Africa and Australia, Pearl is well-positioned to reflect on catering for additional student needs, and on how teachers can diversify their programming to include all students. Emanating from a social justice perspective, Pearl’s main focus is on assisting learners in contemporary classrooms, utilising available resources to ensure that learning is relevant and personal. Pearl is an active researcher, and has been fortunate to work within funded research projects within Australia, dealing with marginalisation and social justice issues. Pearl currently teaches in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and offers support to in-service teachers through professional development units.
Pearl’s approach to research is collaborative, and draws on assessment and appraisal from her peers to ensure that both research output and teaching contributions are effectively met. Prior to joining the higher education sector, Pearl enjoyed several years as a high school teacher, which became the platform for her current position as an educational researcher. She has subsequently presented papers and presentations at a range of national and international conferences. Her current portfolio includes the supervision of both masters and doctoral students covering a range of global issues. Currently, as Course Leader of the Master of Education suite, she strives to facilitate equitable programs that accommodate a range of student needs. Pearl is on the Editorial Board for two major journals, using her knowledge, experience and skill to inform the contemporary field.

Dr Maria Efstratopoulou is a Senior Lecturer in Social Sciences at Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln. She holds a Doctoral Degree in Biomedical Sciences, a European Master MSc in Psychomotor Therapy for Children and a Master of Sciences in Human Performance and Health. Her research interests are in motor behaviour, and assessment and diagnostic procedures for children with emotional, behavioural and developmental disorders.
Maria Efstratopoulou has many years experience working with children in both educational and clinical settings and she is experienced in the education of teachers and Special Education professionals. She is an Academic Associate of different universities across EE and Asia. Dr Efstratopoulou is an active researcher in psychomotor therapy for children with autism, ADHD, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorders and children with motor, emotional, behavioural and developmental difficulties. She is a key speaker for many international conferences in Special Education and Sports, a Member of Global Illuminators for Academic Research, and she is leading the international research cluster aiming at research cooperation within universities in the EU, East Asia and Africa. She is the author of three books, has published many research articles in the field of Special Education and Adapted Physical Activity, and she is an editorial board member and a regular peer reviewer for several research journals.

Dr Marcel Lebrun is the Director of the Doctor of Education Programs at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire. He has written 13 books and published over 40 articles. Marcel has travelled all over the world presenting on strategies for students with emotional and behaviour disorders and is a world-renowned expert in psychological profiling and assessment of pathological and aggressive behaviors in children and adolescents. Marcel is a professor with 42 years in Education having worked in a variety of schools in Canada, Haiti, France, and now the USA. His specialties are working with Special Education students who have Emotional and Behaviour Disorders. He began at Plymouth State University in 2002 and worked in the Elementary Education teacher certification, Graduate Special Education, Educational Leadership and Doctoral programs.

Dr Eleni Meletiadou is a Senior Lecturer at London Metropolitan University Guildhall School of Business and Law. She is an enthusiastic peer learning, writing, and inclusive assessment scholar and an award-winning researcher and adviser with over 20 years of international experience. She is an established academic writer and has presented her work at various international conferences. Her handbook of research on inclusive teaching and assessment practices is expected to be published by IGI Global Publishing in January 2022. She is also the Chair of the Inclusive Assessment Special Interest Group of the European Association of Educational Assessment and an active member of the Cost-funded Eurofam Network.

Debbie Meharg is a Lecturer and Senior Teaching Fellow in the School of Computing at Edinburgh Napier University. Meharg’s research interests sit within the Centre for Computing Educational Research (CCER) and focus on students transitioning from further education institutions into higher education. She has a long track record of working with students in both further education and higher education and her personal experience of working in both these environments shape her current research interests. More recently her research interests have expanded to include student transitions into Graduate Apprenticeship (GA) programmes.
Alongside her research activities Debbie is an active member of the teaching team within the School of Computing where she is Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Software Development (Graduate Apprenticeship) programme and module leader on Business Intelligence and Reporting modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Dr Melinda Cowart is Professor of Bilingual/ESL Teacher Education at the College of Professional Education, Texas Woman’s University (TWU).
Dr Cowart has considerable teaching, mentoring, and editorial experience, and her past professional career in education has been dedicated to exploring how to provide excellence and equity for all, including those who are linguistically, ethnically, or academically diverse. Prior to entering academia on a full-time basis, Dr Cowart taught in bilingual and ESL classrooms. She has far-reaching experience with university school partnerships, having coordinated the University of North Texas Professional Development Schools within the Dallas Independent School District for 13 years.
In her capacity as Professor of Bilingual/ESL Education at TWU, Dr Cowart has worked with faculty and students from universities and schools around the world, and championed research and writing regarding the best approaches for educating and providing leadership when addressing the unique needs of second language learners.
Since 2005, Dr Cowart has served as Managing Editor and then Series Editor of the monographic series, Critical Issues in the Education of English Language Learners. In 12 years, while mentoring faculty and guiding international students, she has edited nine completed monographs with the tenth monograph being assembled at this time.
She and her husband, Mr Ron Cowart, have worked extensively with refugee youth and adults, having been recognised for their service by former Texas Governor George W. Bush, and Presidents George Herbert Walker Bush and Bill Clinton. In 2015, Dr Cowart was selected to participate in the nationally recognised OpEd Project as a Public Voices Fellow.

Dr Hasan Al-Wadi is an associate professor of TESOL and language education in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He has been involved with IAFOR for several years as a member of The European Conference on Language Learning Review Committee and as a member of the Editorial Board of the IAFOR Journal on Language Learning. Hasan was also the founder and the managing editor of the International Journal of Bilingual and Monolingual Teachers of English.
Hasan enjoys a wide experience in the language teacher education field. He was a senior lecturer in the English department, College of Health Sciences in the Kingdom of Bahrain, then he moved to Bahrain Teachers College, University of Bahrain and joined the English Language Education department as an assistant Professor of TESOL and Language Education where he was appointed as the Head of the Pre-College Foundation Programme for 4 years. Recently, he has been promoted to be an associate professor in TESOL and English Language Education. Dr Al-Wadi is now a senior fellow to the Higher Education Academy in the UK and a lecturer in the Faculty Development Programmes in the Unit of Teaching Excellence and Leadership at the University of Bahrain. He was awarded his EdD in TESOL, focused on native and non-native English language teaching differences and preparations from the University of Exeter, UK.
Dr Al-Wadi is an active researcher and has gained 3 research grants from the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the University of Bahrain, and published several papers in international journals. His research interests centre on teaching English as an EFL/ESL, English language teachers’ cognition and knowledge, teacher education programmes, curriculum development and critical pedagogy and critical applied linguistics in TESOL.

Dr Murielle El Hajj Nahas holds a PhD in French Language and Literature from the Lebanese University, Lebanon. She is currently Assistant Professor at Lusail University, Qatar. She is also Associate Editor of the IAFOR Journal of Literature & Librarianship and the IAFOR Journal of Education (Language Learning in Education issues), The International Academic Forum (IAFOR), Japan, as well as Editorial Board Member of In Analysis, revue transdisciplinaire de psychanalyse et sciences, Elsevier Masson SAS, France. Dr Najwa Saba ’Ayon is a full-time associate professor in the College of Arts and Sciences at Rafik Hariri University, Lebanon. She is the Chairperson of the Languages and Liberal Arts Department, the advisor of the English Language Program, and the coordinator of all academic English, communication, and Intensive English courses in the college.
Saba ’Ayon has a BA in English Language, a teaching diploma in TEFL, as well as an MA in TEFL from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and a Doctorate of Education (EdD) from the University of Sussex, UK. She has great deal of experience teaching English as a foreign language (EFL). Besides teaching English courses, she has taught elective courses, namely Fundamentals of Education, Intercultural Communication, and Public Speaking. Moreover, she has published and presented in national and international conferences on academic integrity, flipped learning, intercultural communication, student motivation, collaborative learning in ESP courses, as well as EFL teachers’ conceptions of teaching and their practice. Recently, Dr Saba ’Ayon served as an editor for Sage Open and a senior reviewer of abstracts in The IAFOR International Conference on Education – Dubai 2017 and 2018. She is a reviewer for Scientific Publishing Research.

Dr Shiao-Wei Chu is an assistant professor in National Chin-Yi University of Technology in Taichung, Taiwan. Shiao-Wei received her doctoral degree with an emphasis in professional development for ESL and EFL instructors from the College of Education at the University of Idaho in the Fall of 2013. She holds her master’s degree in TESOL from Chaoyang University of Technology in Taichung, Taiwan.
Shiao-Wei Chu’s research focuses are curriculum and assessment design in the field of English as a Second/Foreign Language teaching and learning and professional development for English language teachers in both face-to-face and web-based environment. Dr Saadia Elamin, Associate Professor of Translation at the University of Khartoum, Sudan, holds a Doctorate of Science and Techniques of Translation (now Translation Studies) (Arabic–English–French) from the Higher School for Interpreters and Translators (ESIT) of the Sorbonne, 1984. Since then, she has been teaching translation and interpreting, at the graduate and undergraduate levels, in a number of universities in Sudan, Libya and Saudi Arabia.
Saadia Elamin has published papers in her three working languages in the main areas of her research interests, namely translation theories and approaches, teaching translation and interpreting, and translation university programmes. The papers are published in local journals (Journal of Khartoum University – Sudan, Journal of King Saud University – Saudi Arabia), regional (Jordan Journal of Modern Languages and Literature (JJMLL), and international journals (Forum of John Benjamins Publishing Company, and Turjuman of Tangier School of Translation). She has also participated in and attended conferences on translation, the most recent of which was the 13th International Post-graduate Conference in Translation and Interpreting (IPCITI), Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, UK in 2017. Dr Mikel Garant is Professor of Applied Linguistics at the College of Global Talent at Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai. His academic interests include transnational video podcasting and online learning, translation and EFL education and cultural studies. He is the author or co-author of over 10 books and edited collections and published dozens of refereed articles. He is the Chief Editor of the Current Trends in Translation Teaching and Learning E journal and is on the editorial boards of several leading journals.
Mikel Garant earned his BA in Political Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, his MSc in Teaching English for Specific Purposes at Aston University, Birmingham, UK, and his doctorate in Organizational Communication at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. He has also been a Japanese National Scholar at Nara University of Education and Osaka University.
He is a certified English Teacher for Finnish public schools and also been involved in projects funded by The Academy of Finland, The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and other sources. For over 20 years, he held various full-time tenured posts and is currently a docent at the University of Helsinki in Finland. He has been a visiting professor at leading institutions all over the world.

Dr Habsah Hussin obtained her doctorate (Applied Linguistics and ELT) from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom; Master by research (English Language Studies) from the National University, Malaysia (UKM); and Bachelor of Education (TESL) from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). She worked as a TESL teacher affiliated to the Ministry of Education, Malaysia and senior lecturer at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) for many years before moving to Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2011. Currently, she is a senior lecturer at the Department of Language Education and Humanities, Faculty of Educational Studies, UPM.
Habsah Hussin teaching, research interests, publications and presentations at conferences are in the areas of ESL Methodology, English Literature, Thinking Skills, Academic Writing, Learner Autonomy and policies related to English Language Teaching in Malaysia. Habsah’s current research project is on helping disadvantaged primary school learners aged 7 to 12 years old in three different contexts namely in remote areas, in the squatter or urban poor category and those living in orphanages, to have greater access to Bahasa Melayu (the national language), the English language and Science subjects via the Modules of Learning for the three subjects developed based on the findings of her research. She also has considerable experience in reviewing articles for various journals and examining doctoral theses.

Dr Andrew Leichsenring is an associate professor at Tamagawa University, Japan. He has been an educator for twenty-four years, working in Australia, Japan, and South Korea during that time. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Teacher Education from Queensland University of Technology and an Australian primary school teaching licence. He also obtained a Master of Education from Queensland University of Technology, a Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning from Charles Darwin University, a Bachelor of International Business from Griffith University, and a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Queensland. Dr Elena Mishieva is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Area Studies at Moscow State University, Russia, from which she has a PhD in linguistics. She has a number of publications on discourse analysis, online youth communication, and ELT, among which is a state approved EFL textbook for Russian schools. She is a member of the National Association of Applied Linguistics (Russia), and the National Association of Teachers of English (Russia).

Dr Leonardo O. Munalim holds a in PhD in Applied Linguistics, an MA in Teaching English Language Arts (both from Philippine Normal University-Manila, The National Center for Teacher Education), and a Bachelor of Secondary Education, major in English. He studied Spanish courses at Instituto Cervantes de Manila, and passed the Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera. He is currently finishing a Graduate Certificate in Distance Education at the University of the Philippines-Open University. Dr Akihiro Saito is an associate professor in the Institute of Arts and Sciences, Tokyo University of Science, Japan. His research focuses on using empirical and interpretive methods and discourse theory with diverse data types to gain an insight into the psychology and sociology of language learning, education policy, and intercultural communication. He is particularly interested in understanding how people’s behaviors are constrained through social structure and how they exercise agency against that structure. Dr Claudia Sánchez holds a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a doctoral degree in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in English as a Second Language (ESL) and Bilingual education. She earned both degrees at Texas A&M University-College Station.
The focus of Claudia Sánchez’s scholarly work is best practices for second language teaching and learning, Spanish language literacy and development, and bilingual/ESL teacher preparation. From 2004 to 2009, Dr Sánchez pioneered the TWU bilingual program’s grant-writing efforts and secured over four million dollars in federal funds to prepare ESL and bilingual teachers for the two largest districts in the North Texas area – Dallas Independent School District and Fort Worth Independent School District.

Dr Bethe Schoenfeld was born in Yokosuka, Japan, in 1958, but lived in the USA before moving to Israel in 1981. She has been teaching English in Israel at both the secondary and tertiary levels since 1985. She is former Head of English Studies at the Western Galilee College and the current Coordinator for Exam Writing.
She has published two books, Dysfunctional Families in the Wessex Novels of Thomas Hardy and The Routine of War: How One Northern Israeli Community Coped During the Second Lebanon War. Dr May Olaug Horverak is currently a headmaster at Birkenes Learning Centre in Norway, a school for adult immigrants who need to learn Norwegian or to get an education, and for Norwegian adults who need special education. She has a PhD in English linguistics with a focus on writing instruction in upper secondary school from a genre-pedagogical perspective. She has also published articles comparing different language learning contexts and different attitudes to the use of L1 in L2 English teaching.

Debbie Meharg is a Lecturer and Senior Teaching Fellow in the School of Computing at Edinburgh Napier University. Dr Melinda Cowart is Professor of Bilingual/ESL Teacher Education at the College of Professional Education, Texas Woman’s University (TWU).
Dr Cowart has considerable teaching, mentoring, and editorial experience, and her past professional career in education has been dedicated to exploring how to provide excellence and equity for all, including those who are linguistically, ethnically, or academically diverse. Prior to entering academia on a full-time basis, Dr Cowart taught in bilingual and ESL classrooms. She has far-reaching experience with university school partnerships, having coordinated the University of North Texas Professional Development Schools within the Dallas Independent School District for 13 years.
In her capacity as Professor of Bilingual/ESL Education at TWU, Dr Cowart has worked with faculty and students from universities and schools around the world, and championed research and writing regarding the best approaches for educating and providing leadership when addressing the unique needs of second language learners.
Since 2005, Dr Cowart has served as Managing Editor and then Series Editor of the monographic series, Critical Issues in the Education of English Language Learners. In 12 years, while mentoring faculty and guiding international students, she has edited nine completed monographs with the tenth monograph being assembled at this time.
She and her husband, Mr Ron Cowart, have worked extensively with refugee youth and adults, having been recognised for their service by former Texas Governor George W. Bush, and Presidents George Herbert Walker Bush and Bill Clinton. In 2015, Dr Cowart was selected to participate in the nationally recognised OpEd Project as a Public Voices Fellow.

Dr Heloísa Orsi Koch Delgado holds a PhD in Letters (with emphasis on Language Studies) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and a Master degree in Education (emphasis on English Language Teaching and Cultural Education) by the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul. She has postgraduate qualifications in Tertiary Education (PUCRS) and Terminology (University Pompeu Fabra, Spain) and holds a BA in Translation Studies (PUCRS). She has a degree in distance education, with an international EaD tutor certificate. She was a professor at the School of Humanities at PUCRS from 1994 to 2019, coordinated the Department of Foreign Languages from 2010 to 2016 and was part of the faculty of the lato sensu postgraduate courses in English Language Teaching and Translation Studies. Heloísa was also the director of the International Office at PUCRS for 3 years (2016-2019) and a pedagogical coordinator of LEXIS: PUCRS’ Language Center for 5 years (2015-2019), having supervised more than 300 language courses.

Heloísa was also the director of the International Office at PUCRS for 3 years (2016-2019) and a pedagogical coordinator of LEXIS: PUCRS’ Language Center for 5 years (2015-2019), having supervised more than 300 language courses.

Dr Pearl Subban is a lecturer in Teacher Education at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. She is currently the Course Leader for the Master of Education program, and Acting Director of Graduate programs. Pearl’s research interests are embedded within accommodating student diversity, and differentiated teaching and learning strategies to accommodate these needs.
With over two decades in the education sector, in both South Africa and Australia, Pearl is well-positioned to reflect on catering for additional student needs, and on how teachers can diversify their programming to include all students. Emanating from a social justice perspective, Pearl’s main focus is on assisting learners in contemporary classrooms, utilising available resources to ensure that learning is relevant and personal. Pearl is an active researcher, and has been fortunate to work within funded research projects within Australia, dealing with marginalisation and social justice issues. Pearl currently teaches in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and offers support to in-service teachers through professional development units.
Pearl’s approach to research is collaborative, and draws on assessment and appraisal from her peers to ensure that both research output and teaching contributions are effectively met. Prior to joining the higher education sector, Pearl enjoyed several years as a high school teacher, which became the platform for her current position as an educational researcher. She has subsequently presented papers and presentations at a range of national and international conferences. Her current portfolio includes the supervision of both masters and doctoral students covering a range of global issues. Currently, as Course Leader of the Master of Education suite, she strives to facilitate equitable programs that accommodate a range of student needs. Dr Anemona Peres is a psychologist and has specialised in educational leadership and quality assurance. She manages the Training Support Sector at Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, where she is responsible for promoting the European lifelong learning policies across the EU, border management education and training, quality assurance and educational technology. She has managed numerous international academic – practitioners’ collaborative projects, developing a wide range of exchange-mobility programmes and educational products, i.e. European sectoral qualifications frameworks, joint degrees, curriculum design and teacher training methodologies, quality assurance systems for training providers, accreditation and recognition of all types of learning, European courses and curricula, common core reference learning, and occupational standards in border management. Dr Ana García-Díaz has a PhD in Education from the Complutense University of Madrid. Her doctoral research gathered comparative information regarding different teaching methods in schools in Scotland and Spain, looking to find out the teaching methodology that would highly develop self-regulated learning in primary school children. Her current research keeps alive her general interest in self-regulated learning, active teaching methods and comparative education. However, communication in the classroom, music education, philosophy and theory of education or education for democracy are some other topics she is involved in her research work. Bibliometric analysis, comparative and policy research, and qualitative methods are the ones most used by this researcher.
Currently, Ana García-Díazshe works as a lecturer at the UNIR-International University of La Rioja and UCJC-University Camilo José Cela of Madrid in various BA and MA degrees. Prior to her academic career, she worked as a Music teacher, Primary School Teacher and Early Years school teacher in Spain and Ireland.
